Abby and Brittany Hensel, born on March 7, 1990, in New Germany, Minnesota, are conjoined twins who have garnered significant media attention throughout their lives. They are dicephalic parapagus twins, meaning they have two heads joined to one torso, with each twin controlling one-half of their shared body. Despite this, they have individual organs such as separate hearts, stomachs, spines, and lungs. They share certain organs like their large intestine, bladder, and reproductive system.

From a young age, Abby and Brittany demonstrated remarkable coordination, learning to walk, run, swim, and even drive a car together. Each twin controls one arm and one leg, which requires them to work in harmony for activities such as playing sports or driving. Despite their differences in height and body proportions, the twins have adapted well to their condition.

The twins grew up in a close-knit family with supportive parents, Patty, a nurse, and Mike Hensel, a carpenter. They graduated from Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota, in 2012 with degrees in education and began teaching in 2013. As of 2024, Abby and Brittany continue to teach fifth grade at Sunnyside Elementary School in New Brighton, Minnesota.

Over the years, the twins have been featured in numerous documentaries and TV shows, including The Oprah Winfrey Show and their own TLC reality series, Abby & Brittany, which aired in 2012. These media appearances provided insight into their daily lives and their journey from adolescence to adulthood.

In addition to their professional lives, the twins have expressed hopes of dating, getting married, and having children. Abby married Josh Bowling in 2021, highlighting how they continue to live fulfilling and independent lives despite conjoining challenges.
