At New York’s LaGuardia Airport on Wednesday, security personnel discovered 17 bullets hidden inside a disposable baby diaper, according to the Transportation Security Administration.
The TSA stated that after the diaper set off an alarm in an X-ray machine at an airport security checkpoint, officers removed the otherwise clean diaper from the passenger’s carry-on luggage.
The passenger first stated, according to the agency, that he had no idea how the diaper containing bullets got into his suitcase. Later on, he advised his partner to place it there, according to the agency.
The man from Arkansas who had a ticket for a flight to Chicago’s Midway Airport was recognized by the TSA, but they withheld his name. He received a citation from Port Authority police for illegally possessing the 9mm ammo.
The person wearing a diaper disguise is the most recent traveller at LaGuardia to be reported for carrying a gun and occasionally heat. This issue has surfaced at airports all around the United States.
A.45-caliber handgun and a magazine filled to the brim with six rounds were discovered by TSA agents last month in a checked bag containing a pair of Nike sneakers at LaGuardia. Weapons may be flown as checked baggage, but only in a hard-sided, secured container; shoes are not permitted.
A carry-on bag containing a Mentos chewing gum container contained thirteen bullets that were discovered by security checkpoint officers in January 2021. The TSA said that the rounds were mingled with gum fragments.
