Three years ago, the Hennessee couple sold nearly everything they possessed, including their primary business and their house, and they announced their intention to spend the rest of their days sailing around the globe.

John and Melody Hennessee believe that their life on a cruise ship could be up to half as expensive as their life on land. They intend to cruise for the rest of their days.

The Florida-born couple, who bought a motorhome to tour the country, sold nearly everything they owned three years ago, including their primary residence and place of business. But later, according to Melody, 64, John, 76, grew tired of driving.

They then came across a Facebook advertisement for a 274-day Royal Caribbean cruise, which started their path to a permanent life at sea.

The pair are currently cruising around the Dominican Republic as part of the latest in a series of long-term sailings, which have taken them to places including Australia, New Zealand, and the South Pacific.

As part of their most recent extended voyage, which has brought them to Australia, New Zealand, and the South Pacific, the couple is currently sailing around the Dominican Republic.

They claim that although their new life is more interesting, it is also less expensive. “We now have a telephone bill, a ship bill, and a few credit card bills for when we go ashore, but that’s it,” John explains.
