The Netherlands’ engineers have designed and built a bicycle that is as long as a double-decker bus. This remarkable bicycle measures 18 meters (55.16 meters) in length, making it the longest in the world.

Ivan Salje, a 39-year-old from the Netherlands, had a dream to build the world’s longest bicycle since childhood, when he would read about Guinness Book records. However, he only started working on it in 2018. Initially, he was alone in his endeavor, but he soon sought the help of friends from his hometown who shared his passion for DIY projects.

After four years of hard work, with a two-year break due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they finally completed the longest bicycle in the world made of steel. It measures 55.16 meters long and requires at least two people to ride it. Initially, the Guinness Book didn’t recognize their creation, but after modifying the design to accommodate only two riders, it received its recognition.

Ivan is thrilled that his dream has come true and the remaining parts of the bicycle are stored at a local scrapyard.
