Anthony Senter and Joseph “Joey” Testa, known as the Gemini Twins, rose from childhood friends in Brooklyn to feared hitmen in the criminal underworld. The duo earned their nickname from their constant presence at the infamous Gemini Lounge, a hotspot for the notorious DeMeo crew led by Roy DeMeo.
The twins quickly climbed the ranks of the mob. They became infamous for their use of the “Gemini Method,” a brutal execution-style designed to leave no trace of evidence. This method involved luring victims to the lounge, executing them swiftly, and dismembering their bodies for easy disposal. Both men participated in dozens of murders during their time in the DeMeo crew.
Their violent careers took a turn in 1983 when Roy DeMeo was killed, reportedly due to their involvement. After DeMeo’s death, the Gemini Twins joined the Lucchese crime family and continued their criminal activities.
The FBI eventually linked the twins to multiple murders. In the mid-1980s, authorities arrested them and convicted them of racketeering and ten killings. The court sentenced them to life in prison, putting an end to their reign of terror.
Shockingly, both men were granted parole in 2024, stirring public outrage. Many believe their release hints at cooperation with authorities or uncovering long-buried secrets. Their early freedom reopened debates about justice for their victims.
The Gemini Twins’ story is a grim reminder of the dark side of organized crime and its enduring impact on society.
